RITA L. HUBBARD

Rita Lorraine Hubbard is native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and a Master Of Science degree in School Psychology, she served as a Special Education teacher for over a decade in the southeast region. She has worked with the gifted, deaf and hearing impaired, academically challenged, autistic, behaviorally and emotionally disabled, selectively mute and developmentally disabled in a variety of settings. However, despite her love for teaching, her long-time passions for creative and educational writing is the foundation in her career and business ventures. Hubbard is a published author, with work ranging from creative poetry to children's books, some of which she illustrated herself.

Get-It-In-Writing Press™, an independent publishing company, and the Shades Of Greatness™ Historical Calendars were both founded by Rita L. Hubbard in the mid-90s, following intense research and travel. Get-It-In-Writing's first projects actually consisted of work from other authors and artists, all of which view Hubbard as a project consultant in their ventures. Through her publishing company, doors have opened for authors, artists, inventors, historians, and researchers...young and old. It wasn't until later that she decided to use her company to launch her own personal project. Even then, that "personal project" was aimed to give something back to the American youth.

Get-It-In-Writing's largest project-to-date is the launching of the Shades Of Greatness Calendars, in which Hubbard serves as both writer and Editor-in-Chief of the publication. The first calendar (Shades Of Greatness 2003), received rave reviews from various businesses and learning institutes. The second calendar (Shades Of Greatness 2004) caught the eye of the African American Chamber Of Commerce, a source which immediately became the biggest supporter and sponsor of the Shades Of Greatness Calendars. Hubbard's publication and company continues to grow, with new readers from various states across the United States joining the mailing list!

Just recently, Hubbard won a grant to travel to Buffalo, New York to attend the Highlights Foundation Writers' Convention, a week-long workshop for children's writers. The Highlights Foundation is most notable for their Highlights Books for Children. There, she met writers, publishers, and editors from all over the world. Hubbard's current plans are to release a series of children's books, entitled Tales From Elephant Lane™. She also has a short historical movie due for release in the near future. Some of her books can be viewed and purchased on the "Merchadise" page of this website.
